Use of IB Intellectual Property
Our school recognizes the importance of adhering to the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization’s guidelines for using IB intellectual property. As an IB Candidate School, we commit to ensuring that all staff, students, and stakeholders respect the IB’s copyright, trademarks, and other intellectual property rights.
IB materials (e.g., guides, curriculum documents, logos) will be used solely for educational and non-commercial purposes in alignment with IB regulations.
Do not modify the IB programme models in any way or create alternative versions of the programme models. The integrity of the IB framework must be preserved in all instances.
Do not use any IB logos (including the IB World School logo and programme logos) prior to receiving official authorization from the IB Organization. Unauthorized use of IB intellectual property is strictly prohibited.
Any reproduction or distribution of IB materials will be done with proper authorization and in accordance with the IB’s copyright and trademark policies.
Attribution Requirements
Our school ensures proper acknowledgment of all copyrighted materials and intellectual property used within the educational environment.
- When referencing or using copyrighted content, all materials will be clearly attributed to the original author, creator, or publisher.
- This applies to academic work, teaching resources, and any materials used in public or internal communication.
Compliance with Copyright Laws
We are committed to complying with local copyright laws and fair use provisions.
- The duplication or distribution of copyrighted materials, including textbooks, videos, software, and online resources, is restricted to what is legally permitted.
- The school library and digital resources will provide licensed materials, and staff will receive training on how to access and use them appropriately.
Consequences of Violations
Violations of the copyright policy by staff or students are taken seriously, as they may undermine the school’s integrity and its commitment to the IB philosophy.
For Students:
- First-time violations will result in counseling and education on copyright laws.
- Repeated or intentional violations may result in academic penalties, such as nullification of assignments, and will be documented in the student’s file.
For Staff:
- Violations will be addressed through a formal discussion and written warning.
- Continued violations may lead to disciplinary action, including suspension or termination of employment, depending on the severity.
The school will take corrective measures to resolve any copyright disputes, including removing or replacing infringing content. This policy will be reviewed annually to ensure allignment with updates to IB guidelines, copyright laws, and best practices.
